Part WE4X693 Laundry Dryer Gas Valve Solenoid Coil
Purpose
Opens the internal safety ports of the burner gas valve to allow gas to flow to the igniter assembly.
Details
The WE4X693 laundry dryer gas valve solenoid coil is an electromechanical safety component used within M-Series gas valve assemblies. This specific coil features 2 electrical terminal connection pins and serves as the secondary/main control actuator on the dual-valve guide block. When the control console calls for heat, electrical current passes through the coil windings, creating a localized magnetic field that physically lifts an internal iron plunger out of the valve seating line. This action works in tandem with the primary 3-terminal coil to feed gas directly into the combustion tube for ignition. Over hundreds of operational hours, the thin copper wire wrapped inside the plastic housing degrades under extreme ambient heat. As the coil wire warms up during a drying cycle, it expands, causing internal micro-fractures to separate and break the electrical circuit. Common symptoms of a failing gas valve coil include a dryer that heats perfectly for the first 5 to 10 minutes but blows completely cold for the remainder of the load, a dryer that takes excessively long to dry thick fabrics, or an igniter that glows bright red but repeatedly shuts off without creating a flame.
Included Items
Includes one genuine OEM 2-terminal gas valve solenoid coil. For complete system overhauls, it is highly recommended to replace this component along with its matching 3-terminal primary coil companion (WE4X692 or equivalent kit). A Phillips head screwdriver and a 1/4-inch nut driver are typically required to access the burner assembly base.
