Purpose
Shuts off dryer heating element when internal temperature becomes excessive.
Details
This genuine OEM high-limit thermostat is used in select LG and Kenmore dryers. It mounts on or near the heating element housing and monitors the temperature of the air exiting the drum. If the internal temperature exceeds safe limits—often caused by blocked vents or a failed fan—the thermostat will open the heating circuit to prevent overheating. Common symptoms of a failed thermostat include the dryer spinning without heating, very long drying times, or premature cycle shut-off. Replacing this part restores safe operation and proper heating response.
