The 4036ER2003A is a genuine OEM water seal (also known as a shaft seal) designed for LG front-load washing machines and washer-dryer combinations. This rubber seal is the critical line of defense between the water-filled wash tub and the metal ball bearings (typically parts 4280EN4001A and 4280EN4001B). It is press-fitted into the center of the outer tub where the drive shaft passes through. If this seal perishes or becomes brittle, water will bypass the rubber lip and wash the grease out of the bearings, leading to rapid corrosion and the "jet engine" roaring sound during the spin cycle. Because this seal usually fails before the bearings do, it is essential to replace it every time the bearings are changed to prevent immediate repeat failure.
