It shields the microwave’s waveguide channel from food splatters, steam and grease while allowing proper distribution of microwave energy into the cooking cavity. A damaged or missing cover can lead to sparking, arcing, reduced cooking performance, or food drift into internal components. Replacing this cover helps restore safe and efficient microwave operation.
