This genuine OEM gearcase (also referred to as the transmission) is used in select top-load washing machines from the Whirlpool family of brands. It transfers motor power into agitation and spin cycles, controlling both directions and speeds of the tub. A failed gearcase can manifest as the washer not agitating, not spinning, making whining or grinding noises, or the tub rotating improperly. Replacing this assembly restores core mechanical performance and often resolves those symptoms.
