Part W11661859 Dishwasher Sump Drain Adapter Assembly
Purpose
Connects the inner sump compartment outlet to the main drain system while managing backflow.
Details
The internal sump drain adapter assembly (sometimes called the "drain chop" adapter) mounts directly beneath the dishwasher tub inside the pump housing assembly. It acts as an essential plumbing conduit that securely routes wastewater from the filtration sump chamber outward to the exterior drain hose. Notably, this component features an integrated rubber flapper mechanism that functions as a one-way check valve. This flap permits high-pressure water to escape freely during a drain sequence while preventing dirty, back-flowing sink water and particulate debris from migrating backward into the wash tub or clean spray arms. Over time, exposure to high heat, harsh grease, and chemical detergents can cause the plastic housing to warp or crack. More commonly, the internal rubber check valve degrades, tears, or warps. A compromised adapter can result in dirty water puddling at the bottom of the tub, grey or black residue spotting on cleaned dinnerware, or debris clogging the small jets of the upper and lower wash arms.
Included Items
Includes one genuine OEM dishwasher drain adapter assembly with a pre-installed internal rubber flapper valve. A flat-blade screwdriver may be helpful during installation to safely pop off the accumulator cover or release the main water feed tube tracks.
